Becoming a member of the local church is part of being a disciple. Here at Bethel that process is integrated with our process of making disciples
The membership process has 4 steps. 1) complete the Spiritual Family Membership Class, 2) complete the Purple Book, 3) attend Victory Weekend and 4) have a pastoral interview.
Spiritual Family Class: This is our 3 hour church membership class. You will learn why we exist, how we build, what the purpose of church is, who leads, how we support the vision and how you can get involved. This class is taught periodically throughout the year. Meeting times are announced in the Sunday Planner.
The Purple Book: This is a powerful book of Biblical foundations. It can be purchased at our bookstore/cafe’. There are 12 chapters and the normal pace to complete the book is 1 chapter per week. Warning: it could change your life.
Victory Weekend: We take one weekend a quarter on average to hold Victory Weekend. Victory Weekend is available to anyone who wants to experience God’s healing and freedom. This weekend focuses on laying firm Biblical foundations, finding greater personal freedom and encouraging spiritual fruitfulness in your life.
Pastoral Interview: After attending the Spiritual Family Class you will be contacted to have an interview with one of our pastors to get to know you better and to answer any questions you may have.
The pattern established in the Bible nearly 2,000 years ago is still the same today. The pattern in the Bible is for people to hear about Jesus, then they repent, are water baptized, filled with the spirit and added to a local church. Acts 2:41 says “those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.”
